Wellington Phoenix 2-0 Central Coast Mariners: result and AI prediction

AI match recap

Wellington arrive with early momentum after an encouraging opening win and now have a chance to build on it at home. Central Coast also showed attacking intent in their opener, and Greenacre has specifically warned his players about their threat once possession changes hands. The home side have absences of their own, but the Mariners' depleted central defensive options are a major concern against sustained Phoenix pressure. Expect a lively contest in which Wellington's control of transitions is the deciding theme.

Head-to-head analysis

This is a closely contested A-League pairing overall, but Wellington won the latest meeting at home. Recent league encounters have also included several low-margin and scoreless contests, so game state will matter heavily.

Injuries and absences

Wellington are without Conchie, Hughes and Smith, reducing their cover across the middle and defensive unit. Central Coast's loss of Sainsbury is more structurally significant, removing an experienced centre-back from a side that already conceded freely in its opener.
