Wellington Phoenix 2-1 Melbourne Victory: result and AI prediction

AI match recap

This is a season opener with contrasting preparation. Victory bring competitive rhythm and a confidence-building continental result, while Wellington enter after a difficult pre-season against domestic opponents and a squad transition. The hosts can make their home setting count if Rufer controls the central exchanges and their wide players protect the full-backs. Victory’s travel and compressed schedule are the main counterweight to their more settled attacking form.

Head-to-head analysis

The latest meeting went Wellington’s way, but Victory hold the stronger broader recent head-to-head record. This fixture has alternated between tight one-goal contests and high-event encounters, making game state especially important.

Injuries and absences

Victory’s official update identifies Louis D’Arrigo as unavailable with a minor muscle issue, reducing midfield rotation options during a congested spell. The supplied feed also flags J. Reec for Victory and N. Walker for Wellington, but those names are not corroborated by the latest club report.
