Preston 2-1 Blackburn: result and AI prediction

AI match recap

This is a high-stakes Lancashire derby with Preston seeking a first positive league result and Blackburn arriving in the healthier early position. Preston have to correct a worrying defensive start, but Blackburn's own absences remove several attacking options and make their squad less flexible. The middle of the pitch is decisive, particularly if Preston are without both Carroll and McCann. Expect a tense contest in which second balls, set-pieces and the response to the first goal carry extra weight.

Head-to-head analysis

This fixture has been closely contested over the longer sample, but Blackburn have taken the most recent run of league meetings. That recent edge gives the visitors useful familiarity with the emotional demands of the derby, even though the current squads are changed.

Injuries and absences

Preston's potential absence of both Carroll and McCann, alongside Potts, concentrates the concern in central midfield and could force a more functional, direct approach. Blackburn are hit more heavily in attacking depth, while Atcheson's suspension further narrows their defensive selection.
