NEC Nijmegen 2-2 Groningen: result and AI prediction

AI match recap

NEC return to the Goffertstadion lifted by an emphatic European night, but their league campaign has been shaped by draws and defensive concessions. Groningen arrive wounded by the Ajax defeat yet retain a front line capable of punishing any loose transition. NEC’s home energy, Chery’s influence and Groningen’s shortage of defensive options point towards an open contest. The visitors’ pace and goal threat ensure that the home side cannot simply turn the match into a one-way attack.

Head-to-head analysis

The last ten meetings are closely contested, with NEC holding a narrow edge overall. Groningen won the most recent league meeting, while NEC have been particularly convincing in several recent home victories over this opponent.

Injuries and absences

NEC’s absences remove experienced defensive leadership in Nuytinck and Sandler, while Tadic’s calf problem narrows Schreuder’s options in the final third. Groningen’s missing defenders are especially damaging because they arrive after a heavy concession against Ajax and face NEC’s aggressive rotations.
